A group of fishermen concluded a partnership agreement. Before the start of the operation they founded the fishing cooperative "ZADRUGA MARES" with the aim of applying for a public call. The long-term purpose of the operation is to diversify the fishing profession of small-scale coastal fishermen and thereby maintain the sustainable development of fisheries. At the same time, the group pursues the goal of connecting fishing and local fishing tourism into a unique tourist story. Fishing as an industry is losing its power of earning and survival, so diversification of the profession is necessary. Traditional fishing is strongly linked to the tourism sector as the main connecting link between craft, environment and tradition. Tourism and the hinterland can be linked to small-scale coastal fishing, thereby creating new jobs and maintaining the existing ones in the entire area of FLAG Istra. The increase in added value in the sector of small-scale coastal fishing is of vital importance for the existence of Slovenian fishing, which is in an unenviable position.
